Two girls on a recent Southwest Airlines flight were escorted off the plane because of bad behavior but they claim they were discriminated against for being too pretty. Southwest has banned them from all of their future flights.

Southwest Airlines Response Below:

USF student Nisreen Swedberg and her friend Sarah Williams were on a Southwest Airlines plane Feb. 14. Both say they were mistreated by the flight crew from the moment they were seated on the plane.

Swedberg claims she asked the flight attendant for a bottle of water and was told by the crew she must wait until the rest of the passengers served. But the attendant didn’t come back to give her water.

Sarah Williams had her own problems -- she said she had to go to the bathroom but there was a man occupying the bathroom too long and she had a fight with him. She is puzzled that the crew blamed just her for the disturbance.

Williams said:
I think they were just discriminating against because we were young decent-looking girls. I mean, nobody else on the plane looked like us except us.

She said the flight attendants were older ladies who may have been jealous of the younger girls.

Southwest responded with a video (the second video below) and blame the women for the problems caused on the flight.

When the plane landed at Los Angeles, the women were escorted off by four uniformed officers and questioned by the FBI. They were released two hours later with no charges.

But the girls banned them from all future Southwest Airlines flights, including the flight back to their home in Tampa, Florida.

Southwest Airlines spokesperson Brenda Kay responded with the following statement in the video.
Finally, we would have gone out of business a long time ago if we discriminated against beautiful women -- or anyone else for that matter. We carry almost 100 million sustomers a year, and they are all beautiful in our eyes.
She says you can be pretty and fly on Southwest airlines -- just leave your bad manners behind.

Do you agree with the girls or the Southwest Airlines? In my experience, I have never seen such discrimination; as long you are well-behaved, you get your food and drinks at the right time. I don’t see any favoritism by the flight attendants.

I'm sorry, but how vapid can they be?

I deserve to be served before the others?

That man doesn't have the right to be in the restroom for an amount of time that I DEEM appropriate? what if the guy had a severe case of the shits?

I can pick a fight with the guy because I had to go to the restroom and it IS PERFECTLY OK AND BREAKS NO LAWS ON A FLIGHT? mmmmm!

All of the above because they are TOO pretty and NO ONE one flight looked like them.

    VAPID!

They think everything should be handed to them first before everyone. All they needed to show was little respect, they would have got what they had wanted.

As for the other girl in sept-a picture of her in her chair with her legs crossed doesn't show a thing.

I cannot make a judgement based upon that-nor can I use moms stats of 99% of 23 yos who can dress provocative will.

The girl has a right to wear what she wants on a plane in my opinion. As long as her titties and bush and ass are INSIDE the attire-I say, if you've got it, squeeze it in and flaunt it! ;)

There isn't a thing wrong with a sexy pair of legs and if "KEITH" didn't like it, then keith shouldn't have looked.

Southwest is a fantastic airline-you will find them time n time again in undergrad and grad level management books for WHAT TO DO...this is a human err not an airline issue.

THEY say because they were too pretty. Just a tad conceited and vain I would say.

She said the flight attendants were older ladies who may have been jealous of the younger girls

Gee like all "older" ladies are jealous of younger self proclaimed pretty women.

I flew home from Florida on Southwest and the flight attendants were wonderful to everyone from the pretty younger women to us older ladies who don't going around being jealous of the younger women.

Their parents need to teach them how to respect people. It seems like they will be suing for money and wouldn't have learned a thing.

Cynthia....us older ladies....lol.....who have problems with pretty younger girls....have problems that extend much deeper. I'm glad to know what I know now and I enjoy anothers youthful beauty at my age as much as I will as i get older. What I really notice is a young persons ability to respect others. These girls seem to be lacking in something much greater than a case of the uglies....lol. :) I guess I'm OK with me. These girls seem to have the issues in this case, sad, really.

karateblossom I am OK with me also. I am thankful that I have reached the age of 70. I am thankful for my good health. I dress well and keep myself up and I am not jealous of pretty young women.

They will if they are lucky live to be as old as I am. They need to stop and think about if they want to be treated as they get older the way they treat and look down their noses at others that they see as not as pretty and important as they are.

I believe that every age has its beauty. It is just a little different in every age.

I have always felt that a lot of what a young person is is how they respect other people. When my children were teens and dating always one of the first things I noticed about their date was how they were to me when introduced.

Even now in my grandchildren who are dating I observe how their boy or girl friend treat the grandparents when we are together.

Cynthia-that makes total sense! I have a mentor, then...:) My 14 yo is always speaking of the heart....never the face. I love it. Of coursè, he's an autistic so he has no social graces anyway. My 11 yo is a mean girl so we are always putting her to the test. )ife is tought for her. Take a materialist child and make her wear walmart clothes.....she learns appreciation. I actually give her set $ for school clothes and she gets all clothes and supplies. We do thrift stores, retail, discount and garage sales. I say 'good luck'......talk about using skills. Her first few years she flopped horribly because she HAD TO HAVE ABERCROMBIE (tshirt cost $50). 5he boys were sales nuts and one was a garage sale freak! :) she learned.

Parents must teach their children to NOT LOOK DOWN their nose. I agree with what you say 100% about using that tool.

These girls have a good case of the "me-me-me" syndrome. These girls need to climb off their high horses and realize that they are not the only people on the planet and they have to use common sense and abide by rules the same as everyone else.

Did anyone else see that smirk on Swedberg's face at the end of the video? That tells me that she's twisting things.

There is nothing wrong where anyone buys their clothes if it is thrift stores, garage sales, WalMart or Target or wherever.

I have a daughter-in-law that made a very snide remark when someone complimented me on a shirt that I was wearing. They asked where I got it and I said K-mart. After she made a remark I felt like telling her the pants that I had on came from a speciality shop in northern Mich that she would probably be familiar with and they cost $50.00. I thought I am not going to lower myself to her level as it didn't make any difference to me where I got what I was wearing.

Looking down your nose to anyone for any reason shows the type of person that they really are.

I always believe in the saying "There but for the grace of God go I"

I didn't watch the videos. Just what was written in the article was enough for me to see the type of self-centered girls that they are.

    Really
nobody else on the plane looked like us except us
. So what did they do look at everyone else on the plane to determine that NO ONE was as pretty as they are.

Talk about the very height of self-centered vain young women.
Give me a break or a bucket to puke in.

cyn-there is nothing wrong with clothes from any of those places, but our daughter thought there was.....she quickly learned the value of her 50 dollar t-shirt and 125 hoodie and 75 dollar jeans and 100 shoes when all she had was 350......the boys were sportin 4 or 5 new jeans, 3-4 new polos, belts, school supplies-new back packs! She lost her SHALLOW HAL mentality! Its funny. Even our cell phones are hand me downs!
    :) I don't want a daughter who is entitled!

And the one thing that your daughter will most certainly gain from being brought up this way, is the ability to appreciate the simpler/less expensive side of life. My kids are so much more appreciative of not having been given into as teens!

    Good for you Susan.
I was a waitress for several months about all I could take.
My husband was laid off from work and so I got a job. He decided that he was going up north and "enjoy" his lay off.
The more I thought about it after he left the madder I got. So I quit the job and called him and said stay as long as you want as I just quit my job and I will be up there tomorrow. :-)

Didn't want to be one of those who just came on and started writing without getting a feel - ya know? I think its important to know a target group. Plus - if I'd have just begun writing and been exposed to a couple of people and the extreme responses without getting to understand them first, I'd have probably just burst into tears - after I lost my redheaded temper!

{sending warmth}! It was 80 plus this weekend for me. :-) Today it was 70 plus. Guess I can share he warmth to you snow bunnies!!!!!!! hippity hoppity.

Very wise decision KB. Some of the new ones do not know about friendships and other relationships that have been built over months of being active on DJ.
Some of us that spend too much time here do try to get along with as many as we can. Some you just have to give up on and move on. There are only a very few that I have found that to be true for me.

Some I have found that it took some working at to at least come to a point of having respect for each other even though we don't agree on very much.

I always think "Lets disagree without being disagreeable"

Does this all mean that you are thinking about becoming a CJ? :-)

Yes.....I love to write. My writing style and typing style is totally different so what you see on the comments section will be similar but different. Comments, to me, is the fun part because that is the normal conversation part and unless I am chatting it up with a super snotty speaker type then i'm not so worried about my writing in the comments. LOL!

So if they will have me, and they think I am CJ worthy then I may join you guys. Otherwise.....i'll just continue to chat it up on the comment section with the fantastic company and diverse opinions. :-)

I have to say that I'm going to side with the two girls who were kicked off the plane, simply for the fact that it happens to me ALL the time, being kicked off of planes or out of places because I'm just so damned pretty...

Come on Mike tell the truth. This is the reason that you get kicked off of airplanes and other places. You insist on singing this song at the top of your lungs and drive everyone bonkers.
